Heart failure program/clinics

That’s why we work with physicians, patients and caregivers to design the best treatments possible to help patients feel better, live longer and avoid hospitalizations. Vidant Health offers a Heart Failure Program/Clinic in Greenville and a Heart Failure Clinic in Tarboro.


The Heart Failure Program in Greenville is located at the East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina University, located at 115 Heart Drive.

Some services offered through the Heart Failure Program include:

  • Medication initiation and titration
  • Focused patient education
  • Heart failure self-management tools that emphasize daily weights, low sodium diets and medication adherence
  • Laboratory monitoring as needed
  • Echocardiography
  • Cardiopulmonary exercise testing
  • Evaluation for device therapies
  • Bi-ventricular pacemaker optimization

The Heart Failure Clinic in Tarboro provides education, counseling and medication management to help patients manage this disease. We work with pharmacists, nutritionists, rehabilitation therapists and health educators to develop an individual care plan for each patient. The staff also collaborates with other heart failure programs within Vidant Health and across the state.
